What Is Considered an Essential Service?

By now, you’ve probably already made a lot of adjustments to your daily life to protect yourself and your loved ones during the Coronavirus pandemic. As Americans stock up on supplies, stay in their homes as much as possible, and even make homemade masks for those sparing trips outside, we have all had to adjust to a new kind of normal in the face of this global threat. But what do you do when you need a professional service you simply can’t perform yourself? What is considered an essential service?

The good news is that The White House has laid out guidelines on jobs that are considered part of the “essential critical infrastructure workforce.” This includes workers such as medical professionals, law enforcement, and other individuals who are vital to public health and safety.

A memo released by the Cyber and Infrastructure Security Agency, which operates under the oversight of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, further clarifies which jobs are part of this workforce. The CISA states that, “Workers such as plumbers, electricians, exterminators, and other service providers who provide services that are necessary to maintaining the safety, sanitation, and essential operation of residences” are allowed to continue operating under the purview of “Public Works.” This means that plumbers, electricians, and other home service providers will still be available to assist homeowners, even during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Here at AAA Service Plumbing, Heating & Electric, we are proud to be able to continue to serve area residents in times of need. Whether you are looking for plumbing, electrical, or even heating and AC services, our professionals are still here to get the job done. We want to ensure to you that nothing is more important to us than the safety of our customers and our technicians, which is why we are taking additional probationary measures to help stop the spread of COVID-19, while still providing the same great services that you expect. Remember that if we all do our part by practicing social distancing, following the advice of the CDC, and remaining calm, we will get through this.
