It’s not too late for air conditioning rebates! It’s the middle of summer and that means there’s still plenty of hot weather ahead. If you’re wishing you could stay cool and save some money in the process, think about cashing in on some rebate savings.
If you’re an Xcel Energy residential customer in Colorado, there’s still time to get in on the company’s generous rebate program. All you have to do is install a new air conditioning system and you can get up to $1000 cashback.
To cash in on the savings, just trade in your old A/C unit, and have a new one installed by a registered contractor, like AAA Service. You’ll save money on a new more efficient air conditioner and you’ll also reduce your energy bill every month.
There are also rebates for homes that prefer evaporative cooling. Whether you already have a “swamp cooler” system or you’d like to have one installed, you can save up to $1000 on one of these systems, too.
Evaporative coolers are less expensive to buy and install than a central air conditioning system and they also cost less to run. The difference is that instead of circulating the same cooled air through your home, like an air conditioning system, evaporative coolers cool the outdoor air that comes into the house using a simple water system.
To get the evaporative cooler rebate, the unit needs to be on Xcel’s approved list and permanently installed on your home. You could do it yourself or have one of our trained professionals install it for you.
Here are four additional ways to save money while you beat the heat:
- Change or clean the filter regularly.
- Use the programmable thermostat to its advantage. Set it to78 degrees when you’re home and 85 degrees while you’re at work or away from home.
- Refrain from resetting the thermostat in an effort to cool the house faster.
- Keep the house closed until the outside temperature is cooler than the inside temperature.
